Ahimsa is part of my brand name - but what does it mean?
Ahimsa is the first Yama mentioned in Patnajalis Sutras, an ancient text that introduces yogic philosophy. The Yamas refer to ethical guidelines of how we treat our surroundings.
Ahimsa means non-violent behaviour and can be interpreted in many different ways. For me, it is about being kind to others - but also myself - and also other beings on this planet. Ahimsa to me is an anti-oppression statement, that led me to being vegan, a feminist and outspoken against injustice in general.
In my yoga style, I use it as a mindful approach, to try and not compare us to others, be gentle with ourselves and respect our individual boundaries.
